December 2, 2012 - Charles will be speaking at the TALKABOUT Seminar.
TALKABOUT is an interactive event which will explore liberal Jewish responses to issues of aging. It is open to the broader Jewish community.
The event will feature three experts in the fields of Canadian law, medicine, and liberal, progressive halachah (Jewish law), who will come together for a panel discussion, followed by mini-workshops. These key areas overlap and inform each other when a variety of decisions need to be made.
Participants will be able to attend two of the three mini-workshops. Pre-registration to secure a space is required. A binder of materials will be provided to all TALKABOUT registrants.
Registration: $40 (members of Congregation Darchei Noam, Temple Har Zion and Beit Rayim Synagogue and their families) - $60 (general public)

JEWISH BIOMEDICAL ETHICS: LIBERAL HALACHIC PERSPECTIVES WITH RABBI MICHAEL STROH
This workshop will explore issues in halachah and biomedical ethics from the perspective of a liberal rabbi.
THE BASICS OF POWERS OF ATTORNEY WITH CHARLES TICKER
This workshop will cover why one needs a Power of Attorney (POA) for personal care and management of property. Recent court cases will be explored
DEMYSTIFYING PALLIATIVE AND END-OF-LIFE CARE WITH DR. SANDY BUCHMAN
This workshop will dispel myths about palliative and end-of-life care.
February 11- 12, 2013 - Charles will be co-chairing and presenting at Advising the Elderly Client for Osgoode Hall Law School's Professional Development Program.
